Mulloon Landscape Rehydration Bootcamp Coming to Bombay
Mulloon Institute and Bombay Landcare group are hosting the second event in the ‘Water Stewardship Program’ series focused on landscape restoration in the Bombay Creek catchment. The Landscape Rehydration Bootcamp - which runs over Friday 6th and Saturday 7th February 2026 - will be all about learning how to catch water, restore landscapes and apply strategies to improve productivity and drought resilience on local properties.
The event follows a successful field day back in August, where Mulloon Institute's Erin Healy and Peter Hazell did a great presentation to almost 30 attendees, with a theory session and field walks examining landscape features and small-scale instream structures around the Bombay region to the west of Braidwood.
The two-day Bootcamp in February hopes to go more in-depth with participants, and is targeted for local landholders and residents around Bombay, especially those along the Bombay Creek.
“This bootcamp will be about learning how to identify and prioritise issues on your own property, and practical applications to give your landscape rehydration project the best chance of success.” says Erin Healy, Program Manager and Environmental Engineer with the Mulloon Institute. “It also includes a visit to the on-ground project demonstration site we’ve selected along Bombay Creek, where in-stream works are actively being undertaken by the Mulloon team.”
In 2025, the Bombay locality was selected to participate in the pilot phase of Mulloon Institute’s Water Stewardship Program 2025-27 and is now one of ten project demonstration sites being rolled out across the Sydney Drinking Water Catchment.
With backing from The Ian Potter Foundation and support of Water NSW, the Program aims to foster a local community of practice around the Bombay catchment area, with tailored resources, community events and capacity-building activities delivered over the next two years. So far, Mulloon has been working closely and partnering with the local Bombay and Upper Shoalhaven Landcare groups to deliver these events.
“We are very much looking forward to hosting Erin Healy and her colleagues Jack Smart and Sharni Pike from Mulloon Institute at The Saddle Camp on Bombay Rd again this year” says Erin Brinkley, Local Landcare Coordinator. “It’s great to have this local opportunity on Bombay Landcare’s door-step, and we hope more locals and landholders in the Bombay region can take advantage of this heavily subsidized two-day course”.
