Capacity building - LP003-003
The issue
Landcare in the Central Tablelands has a complex and dynamic history. There has been amazing work put in by various groups and people, and alot of the time this work has not been documented. This is a challenge as it means that it can be hard to find precedents and to built of the hard work that has been done in the past, it also means that alot of people have not recieved credit for their efforts.
The solution
For the Central Tablelands Regional Muster, the organisation team came up with the idea of creating a timeline to map all the incredible work that has been done in the region, and put it all on a large piece of paper. The team also wanted to create an artwork around the timeline, to try to visualise some of the events that have occured and to make it more engaging and dynamic. This project was held at the Regional Muster in a break-out session, engaging people who wanted to use creativity and art to document our collective Landcare history.
The impact
This project created a timeline which put down the knowledge of all the people at the Muster onto a singular artwork. The artwork is 3.5m long, and a combination of writing, collage and painting/drawing. It chronologically shows the formation of groups and important events in the Central Tablelands since the beginnings of Landcare in the area. The timeline artwork is an engaging work which shows people the complex history of various groups, and allows the audience to appreciate all the hard work that Landcarers have put into the environment and the community in the area.
