Central West Indian Myna Action Group
A regional approach to identifying outbreaks and managing the spread of Indian Mynas in the Central West.
Until recently, these birds were seen only in pockets of the Central West region like Dubbo and Dunedoo; however, large flocks are now being reported right across our region from Coonamble and Coonabarabran in the north right down to Grenfell in the south.
Central West Region Landcare Inc will be working in partnership with MynaScan and the Dubbo Indian Myna Control Program to tackle the growing issue of Indian Myna pest population outbreaks across urban and agricultural land.
Landcare groups across the Central West will:
- encourage reporting of population outbreaks using the MynaScan website and app, and
- any reports will link straight through to the following local Landcare groups for support with trapping control options:
- Mid Macquarie Landcare in the Dubbo/Wellington/Narromine area;
- Central West Lachlan Landcare across Parkes and Forbes;
- Condobolin District Landcare
- Coonamble Landcare
- 3 Rivers Landcare (Dunedoo, Coolah, Mendooran)
- Weddin Landcare for Grenfell and surrounding areas and
- Coonabarabran Landcare.
Each group will be outfitted with an aviary trailer and peegee traps for long term management of Indian Mynas in their local communities.
