Supporting an OzFish riparian restoration event - learning about the Grose River, discussing some of its history, impacts and inhabitants, such as the platypus!
What a morning! Thank you OzFish - Bass Sydney Chapter for having us at Jila Camp Grounds with Greater Sydney Local Land Services and Chris the plant expert from Hawkesbury Bushcare on the 2nd of May.
We had a great morning learning about the Grose River, discussing some of its history, impacts and inhabitants, such as the platypus! Angie, Monique and Chris went through the purpose of long stem planting in a flood prone area on a riverbank, and some of the benefits of doing so.
A planting demonstration was done using the cool auger drills provided by OzFish and then we got stuck into it, planting about 100 plants, aiming to assist the riverbank resilience against floods and avoid further erosion in the future.
