Woodland Birds School Education Program

The HRLN have developed a school curriculum based resource kit for primary schools in the Hunter region.

There are currently 6 schools in the lower Hunter region running this program.

The program aims to increase awareness and engagement for students, teachers and the wider community around the plight of significant numbers of threatened and endangered species of wildlife in the Hunter Valley and to take steps to prevent their loss. In this Woodland Bird program, specific bird species such as the Regent Honeyeater and Swift Parrot will be used as flagship species to highlight the overall biodiversity loss and the importance of preserving the key biodiversity areas in the Hunter region.
