Nature Spotters: Tree Planting
This week our Nature Spotters have grown green thumbs! Our enthusiastic participants planted a mix of ground covers, grasses and shrubs; Ruby saltbush (Enchylaena tomentosa), Fine-leaf Tussock grass (Poa sieberi) and Willow Wattle (Acacia salicina) along a riparian zone of the Macquarie River (Wambuul). These 50 new plants have been placed in amongst the Nature Spotters’ planting from last Spring which is thriving!
These plant species are important habitat for wildlife and help to maintain healthy, stable soils. Traditionally, the Wiradjuri used these plants for food, fiber and medicine
