Nature Spotters: Water Bug Edition

Nature Spotters: Water Bug Edition

First Session of our Nature Spotters program for Term 1

Our Nature Spotters program is back for Term 1! These after-school sessions provide 8-14 year olds the opportunity to observe and record nature in their local environment.

In our first session, curious young minds spent the afternoon at the Macquarie River (Wambuul) learning about water quality testing and water bugs. They conducted water quality tests and used dip nets to catch and identify water bugs present in the river. They learned about the importance of water bug diversity and what this indicates about the health of our waterways.

More fun outdoor adventures await including kayaking, tree planting, traditional Wiradjuri plant use and a tour of the Syntropic Garden. Our Nature Spotters learn practical skills while having fun exploring and reconnecting with nature in their own backyard.
