The solution

Tweed Landcare recently held an event with carbon developer 24 Degree Forest focused on bringing awareness and localised knowledge about carbon markets for landholders, rather than pressure. The event was held on a cattle property in Doon Doon, 70 kms inland from Byron Bay, which had an active Nature Repair Market project underway, managed by 24 Degree Forest. This project aims to restore 19.9 hectares of cleared land to wet sclerophyll forest and rainforest ecosystems using the Replanting native forest and woodland ecosystems method, connecting the property’s vegetation with Nightcap National Park. This event brought together landholders, local government, North Coast Local Land Services, Landcare, local reforestation team from Reforest Now and the private sector (24 Degree Forest) to share information on the realities of the engaging as a landholder with the Nature repair Market.
