Upper Shoalhaven Landcare showcases another year of achievements at the 2025 Mini-Muster and AGM
On the evening of Friday 7th November, Upper Shoalhaven Landcare Council (USLC) hosted it's annual gathering, inviting local groups and members to discover and celebrate Landcare around the region at the Braidwood Servicemen's Club.
The 2025 Mini-Muster and annual general meeting was well attended, with seventeen representatives and presentations from eight different Landcare groups on the night.
Highlights of the evening were hearing about Braidwood Urban Landcare Group's Braidwood European Wasp Offensive project and the local efforts to control the pest species, Upper Deua Catchment Landcare's Mine Enforceable Undertaking project tackling problematic weeds like Madeira vine along the Araluen creek, as well as the native propagation efforts and market stalls of the newest group to connect with USLC in Gearys Gap/Wamboin Landcare.
Other special mentions included the launch of Sustainable Braidwood's new web directory and skills library, Bungendore Landcare's National Tree Day planting at Bungendore Park, and the collaborative efforts of Bombay and Sheep Station Creek Landcare to unveil their new display board at Bombay Reserve on the Shoalhaven River.
USLC also showcased their 2025 achievements on the night, with an excellent report from continuing Chair, Mary Appleby, Treasurer, Robyn Clubb, and Coordinator Erin Brinkley. The major projects included securing the lease of the Geology Shed at Dargues Gold Mine for a Nursery Hub in Majors Creek, rolling out the second year of the Southern Tablelands Tree Start Growers Network with Upper Murrumbidgee Landcare, as well as a successful Youth Engagement Series supporting sensory gardens and educational workshops with Braidwood Preschool, Homeschool and St Bedes Primary School kindly funded by Braidwood Community Bank.
As with any AGM event, financial reports were presented for 2024-25FY and a special resolution to update the USLC constitution was passed. The newly adopted constitution aims to allow USLC to become eligible for Deductable Gift Recipient status, as well as simplify membership and subcommittee operations.
