Two Fires Festival: Food Health and Healing the Land

The 2019 Two Fires Festival (2FF) will be celebrating Food Health and Healing the Land in Braidwood on Friday 5th, Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th of April. This family-friendly event is an opportunity to learn about and experience native and local food, art and literature, local activism, indigenous culture and regenerative farming. Since its beginning in 2005, the Two Fires Festival celebrates the work of a vigorous artistic community, and enlivens the creative force of activism. Arts and activism blend, each feeding the potency of the other. The Festival honours and carries forward the spirit of poet Judith Wright’s twin passions, art and activism, particularly environmental and Indigenous activism.

End of Year Landcare nursery get together

The Yass Landcare Community Nursery team invite fellow plant nursery enthusiasts to an end of year networking event. We will show: • first timers around the nursery; • share the experience of sowing some native or seasonal vegetable seeds; • how to clean a range of native seed which has been collected locally • how to reuse plastic milk containers • and encourage the sharing of plant growing experiences. Date: Wednesday 19 December Time: from 6pm till dark Bring: BYO drinks and a plate to share Plus: if you have any plastic milk bottles, small plastic containers and sharp scissors please bring them along.

Walk: Watagans Forest

The Watagans are the high, forested ridges you see off to the left when approaching the Cessnock (Freemans Waterhole) turnoff on the M1. They catch the rain and mist, and hugely diverse forest ecosystems flourish there ranging from full rainforest to tall eucalypt forest and ridgetop woodland. The midweek timing is because the area is busy with campers and 4WDers on summer weekends, and the latter sometimes think they own the roads.
