Eden Landcare at Work
Deadheading Formosan lilies on the north side of Lake Curalo, August 2024.
ViewMullet Swarm
At our first Eden Landcare gathering in July we witnessed a huge number of mullet swarming in Freshwater Creek near where it flows into Lake Curalo, emphasising the importance of the Lake and it's tributaries as a fish nursery.
ViewTurkey Rhubarb!
There is a heavy infestation of Turkey Rhubarb around the fringes of Lake Curalo - this lot was removed from the reeds.
ViewApple-Berry
There are a great variety of native plants to be found around Lake Curalo, including the bush tucker plant Apple-berry (Billardiera scandens) - seen in flower and making for some challenging weed removal as it was entwined with turkey rhubarb (seen with seeds).
ViewWombat Diggings
We like to check in on the Wombat burrow on the way to our weeding site along the Lake Curalo track
ViewWeeding at Aslings Beach
Eden Landcare volunteers joined Luke Hamilton as part of the Coastal Weeds program in November 2024. We removed some Sea Spurge (Euphorbia paralias) and plenty of South African Daisy (Senecio pterophorus) as well as identifying some native species that could be confused with weeds.
