Landcare, Bushcare, Local Government and Community members, interested in maintenance and restoration of Greater Sydney’s natural environment, are invited to attend this Landcare Special Event held in conjunction with the Annual General Meeting of Greater Sydney Landcare Network, on Sunday 23rd September 2018 from 10:00am.

The day will include:

  • Complimentary Morning tea on arrival
  • The presentation of the Annual Report
  • Election of the Steering Committe
  • A brief presentation from Landcare NSW and Greater Sydney Local Land Services and, how they can assist your local bushland or catchment group with a guide to funding, governance and promotion.
  • A discussion of the new Crown Lands Management Act, and the transfer of Crown Land to Local Councils.
  • The impact of changes to Crown Land’s legislation may be far reaching and impact your local bushland, so come along to the GSLN event and join the discussion.

If you have questions relating to specific sites, particular issues relating to the legislation, or any other Crown reserve matter, details will be collated on the day, with queries directed to a Crown Land team to respond. Information on website: www.industry.nsw.gov.au/lands.

  • Lunch provided with dietary restrictions catered for.
  • Afternoon Activity: A special Sydney Olympic Park presentation and walking tour, accompanied by SOP Authority Staff, to investigate the challenges and successes in balancing invasive environmental weed control and threatened species habitats. We will look at the issues presented by the old Brick pit and, how to balance the removal of dominant invasive environmental weeds while retaining or enhancing habitat for a diverse range of fauna. Also, how early landscape design at Sydney Olympic Park has left a legacy of simplistic vegetation structure.
  • Alex McKenzie from Strathfield City Council will join the 'walk-and-talk' tour, as well as discuss the recent Sydney Water Powell's Creek Naturalisation Project community open day.

A copy of the Agenda will be available from the GSLN webpage shortly. Register attendance on Eventbrite, and be sure to follow (and share) the AGM event on Facebook.
