Gibber Point Reserve Project
"Gibber Point Reserve is a public reserve with a small pocket of littoral rainforest, on the foreshore of Tilligerry Creek, Lemon Tree Passage. Since 2012, professional bush regenerators (BARRC), funded by N.S.W. Environmental Trust, have worked to restore the site.
Prior to restoration work commencing the reserve was heavily infested with weed species including ground and climbing asparagus fern, ochna, lantana, bitou bush, sickle pod and the difficult to control madeira vine.
Significant native regeneration occurred once primary weeding finished and native canopy trees responded well to the reduced competition. The challenge is now to continue to control madeira vine, protect the rainforest from rising sea level and manage public access in the area".
