Monthly propagation session

The Gearys Gap/Wamboin Landcare Group holds monthly plant propagation sessions, regular plant sales and occasional field days and community planting sessions. All activities are notified to members via email and also advertised where possible in The Whisper and the Bungendore Mirror. Membership is free and all hands are welcome! Propagation sessions are usually held from 9 to 11am on the first Saturday of each month at the Group's nursery in Wamboin. Sessions may include education on plant identification (especially weeds), propagation methods and other topics of interest. Meetings are held during propagation sessions rather than being held separately. The group has a large annual plant sale at the Bywong Car Boot Sale and also regularly sells plants at the monthly Wamboin Home Produce Market.

MCCL's First Birthday!

Martindale Creek Catchment Landcare members will gather to celebrate our first year as a group. Membership covers the areas of Martindale, Horseshoe and Bureen through which the beautiful Martindale Creek, a tributary of the Hunter River, flows.

He is passionate about all aspects of soil health & sharing his years of experience. Jeremy runs beef cattle property at Beechwood & was instrumental in forming the successful Mid North Coast Microherders Group – a social media discussion group on soils, management, microbes, soil chemistry and appropriate machinery. Lee Fieldhouse has a vision for revitalizing agriculture by recycling local waste products into a high value resource. He produces commercial quantities of composted worm castings & worm wee. Both products have been used with outstanding results by horticulturists, home gardeners & farmers. Program: Tour the worm farm; manufacture techniques & benefits of worm byproducts. Soil health, beneficial microbes and building soil carbon Bokashi: what is it? How to make it, benefits for your soil. Talk on Hornsby Quarry

STEP has concerns that the project to fill Hornsby Quarry with spoil from the North Connex tunnel and create public recreation spaces will ignore the unique geological feature, the volcanic diatreme. In this talk Dr Ian Percival, who prepared the original geoheritage report on the Hornsby diatreme in 1979, will outline the geology of the feature, explain its origin, and will argue why it should be protected for future generations of geologists and the public. Ian is Senior Principal Research Scientist (Paleontologist) at the Geological Survey of NSW.
