Do you know anyone who is doing something great for the environment?

A farmer who has implemented land management practices that have improved soil, water quality or native vegetation? Or perhaps a group who volunteer their time to restore a local patch of bushland?

Why not celebrate their achievements by nominating them for a 2015 NSW Landcare award?

Within the Landcare awards, the term 'Landcare' refers to all groups individuals, organisations and activities that care for the land. This includes, but is not limited to: Landcare, Coastcare, Bushcare, Dunecare, Rivercare, 'Friends of' groups, farmers, professional farming systems groups, natural resource management, Junior Landcare (including day care centres, primary and secondary schools, youth groups, scout groups, etc) Urban Landcare and Indigenous Landcare.

There are many groups and individuals who are doing great things to enhance the natural resources of our region and improve how they are managed. This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase their efforts and maybe inspire someone else to do the same.

Nominations are being sought for awards in the following categories:

· Individual Landcarer

· Government Partnerships with Landcare

· Innovation in Sustainable Farm Practices

· Landcare Facilitator or Coordinator

· Innovative Community Group

· Junior Landcare Team / Youth Organisation

· Indigenous Land Management

· Young Landcare Leader (ages 15 – 35)

Three finalists will be selected from each category and announced at the 2015 NSW Landcare conference.

The conference will be held on 1-3 September at Turners Vineyard in Orange.

Nominations for the 2015 NSW Landcare awards open on 23 March. To nominate someone, or if you'd like more information, contact your Local Land Services office.
