Keith Walker is the newly appointed Regional Landcare Coordinator, based in Armidale and servicing the New England Landcare Network region. Keith has an extensive background in Natural Resource Management and Agriculture, having worked across Southwest Queensland, Southern Queensland, Northern New South Wales, and now in the New South Wales Northern Tablelands and Granite Border regions.    

Keith has a background in Agriculture, Forestry, Protected Area Management, worked for Regional NRM bodies, Northwest Local Land Services, private and international consultancy firms, and has completed a range of Tertiary courses in the Natural Resource Management and Agriculture fields.   

Keith has spent over 20 years working with landholders achieving grant funded, on-ground conservation and biodiversity projects on their properties, is passionate about regenerative agriculture, and looks forward to working with the respective Landcare coordinators and Landcare committees, to assist Northern Tablelands and Granite Border communities establish and enhance current and future Landcare projects.   

Keith acknowledges the ongoing enterprise challenges of volatile commodity markets, biosecurity, rising property prices, succession and climate change impacts, however believes it is an exciting time for Australian Agriculture, with an emerging focus on managing land to encompass production, conservation and biodiversity and community outcomes in a more holistic way. 

‘There are amazing people in our rural and remote communities, and I have had the pleasure and privilege throughout my career to work with them. I look forward to continuing those opportunities with the communities throughout the New England Landcare Network region’.
