Eucalypts Australia grant
A grant was received in April 2017 to grow and plant eucalypts and educate the community about eucalypts.
Die-back is increasing across Eucalyptus blakelyi and Eucalyptus melliodora in this region. Facilitating information exchanges on die-back and Eucalyptus conservation is a major focus of this project. This grant will be used to educate children, raise public awareness, support a primary school arts project about eucalypts. The grant will enable expansion of our nursery to grow 7,000 eucalyptus tubestock per year - a 2,000 per year increase, and we will work with Boorowa Community Landcare to investigate direct seeding techniques which will facilitate germination. Students from Bowning Primary School will assist in plant management activities and Eucalyptus focused art and educational activities. A range of Eucalyptus and Die-Back Awareness days will be held across the region; electronic media will be used to convey Eucalyptus research and conservation best practices to wider audiences. We are growing the following species: - Eucalyptus melliodora Yellow Box - Eucalyptus mannifera Brittle Gum - Eucalyptus albens White Box - Eucalyptus camaldulensis River Red Gum - Eucalyptus blakelyi Blakelyi Red Gum - Eucalyptus bridgesiana Apple Box - Eucalyptus dives Broad Leaf Peppermint - Eucalyptus pauciflora Snow Gum - Eucalyptus polyanthemos Red Box - Eucalyptus macrocarpa Grey Box - Eucalyptus rossi Scribbly Gum - Eucalyptus rubida Candle Bark - Eucalyptus stellulate Black Sallie
