In the video we share:
- Our citizen science project with Stephen Bell from Eastcoast Flora Survey. We’re using iNaturalist.org to collect data on the natural veg of the Broke Bulga area & will produce a veg map local landholders can use to guide ecological restoration.
- Our vision for restoring River Redgum along Wollombi Brook. We’re working with the Research Center for Ecological Resilience (ReCER) at The Botanic Gardens of Sydney, Hunter Local Land Services & Trees In Newcastle to ensure any seedlings we raise are healthy & resilient.
- The results of cultural burns we undertook with Den Barber and the team at Koori Country Cultural Fire Aboriginal Corporation.
- Our group’s success controlling African Olive at McNamara Park over the past 25 yrs.
- & we finish off by highlighting how Landcare is a wonderful way to build community & contribute to conserving our local environment.
Ours wasn't the only film produced, there are several showcasing the activities of other Landcare groups across the Hunter Region. Each is unique & inspiring and can be viewed on the Hunter Region Landcare Youtube channel.
