Trundle, Bruie Plains & District Landcare Group will be hosting a Field Trip to Colin Seis's property 'Winona', Gulgong on Friday 16th October 2015.

Colin Seis is a pioneer of the regenerative agricultural practice of pasture cropping. He and his son Nicholas own and run the 2000-acre property 'Winona' situated North of Gulgong on the central slopes of NSW where the Seis family have been farming since the 1860's. Winona runs around four thousand 18.5 micron merino sheep, and around 500 acres annually to oats, wheat and cereal rye. Winona also runs one of the largest Kelpie working dog studs in the world. Since 1992 Colin has been developing and fine tuning pasture cropping. It combines grazing and cropping into a single land use method where each one benefits the other economically and environmentally.

As well as running 'Winona' Colin has been running a farm consultancy business and spoken at many workshops and Seminars around Australia and Internationally on the practical aspects of  Pasture Cropping, Land Management and Native Grassland Management. In 2005 Colin won the Central West conservation Farmer of the Year Award and in 2007 won the NSW Inaugural Carbon Farmer of the Year Award.

Traditionally farming in Australia has had to modify methods brought in from overseas, now we have Australian developed systems that are adaptable and resilient to the challenges unique to this land. Join us to find out how effective these new methods can be for your business and your family.
