During lockdown Central West Lachlan Landcare took Mental Health First Aid online

Collaborations - LP002-005

The issue

Central West Lachlan Landcare (CWLL) has been planning a face to face Mental Health First Aid course which we recognised as an important tool for building resilience, understanding and being able to appropriately manage the challenges that deteriorating mental health can bring.

NSW went into lockdown as we commenced promotion of the event.

The solution

After speaking with Gotcha4Life, they linked us up with Steven Gamble from Man Anchor who had been successfully delivering the Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course online through the Mental Health First Aid Australia Online portal.

We advertised that the training had gone online and were very happy to welcome ten people to participate in the course.

The impact

Due to the course being delivered online, participants got the opportunity to prepare through the MHFA portal online at their own pace and then join together as a group to discuss each section of the training with the facilitator.

This method of learning was very appealing as it provided a chance for everyone to study at a time suitable to them, but still have the opportunity to discuss topics with the group and facilitator.
