Coolamon Gardens: Growing community, heritage, and nature in the heart of town

The Coolamon Gardens Project is a community-led initiative by Coolamon Landcare to transform an underused space in the heart of town into a vibrant public garden. Located at the Clock Tower nearby the train station, the garden will feature native and naturalised plants, restored heritage fencing, and interpretive signage celebrating local ecology and railway history.

So far, the project has been successfully supported through two small grants from Coolamon Shire Council and GrainCorp, helping to begin garden establishment and heritage restoration. Coolamon Landcare is continuing to seek further funding to complete additional stages and expand the gardens’ community and environmental impact.

The project will create a welcoming place for residents, visitors, schools, and volunteers to connect, learn, and enjoy nature—enhancing Coolamon’s beauty, biodiversity, and community spirit.
