Blicks River, Dundurrabin

Privet and honeysuckle control, bush regen

The Blicks River in the Northern Rivers of NSW, Australia, flows into the Clarence River via the Nymboida River.

Major infestations of privet and honeysuckle are found along the banks, and on surrounding properties.

Dandarrga Landcare has a long term plan to control these weeds, and replant with local rainforest species.

Work has begun along the southern banks, on private property and Crown Lands around the Dundurrabin Community Centre.

Mechanical removal of privet, by hand and using Tree Poppers, is clearing space for plantings of species such as

Hoop Pine, Black Plum, Lilly Pilly and Jackwood.
