  • Treasurer (and Public Officer) Katherine Handel
  • Assistant Treasurer Noela McDonald
  • Committee members Geoff Butler, Kathy Cook, Jan Gough-Watson, Brian Higgisson, David McDonald and Jacqui O’Leary.

Highlights of the Group's activities since the previous AGM were reported upon, including:

  • Plantings at the Bywong Hall
  • Plantings at Birchmans Estate
  • Plantings at Wamboin Community Hall
  • GGWLG activities have taken a slightly different direction this year, involving lobbying of Council on environmental and land use issues, for example, submissions and communications with Queanbeyan-Palerang Community Council on draft policy on volunteers; vegetation clearance issues; and the review of E4 Environmental Landuse zoning in Bywong and Wamboin. The meeting agreed that the executive and committee would continue this type of activity on relevant issues in the forthcoming year.
  • Landowners on Macs Reef Road contacted GB to see whether GGWLG could assist them in dealing with erosion on the Yass River on their property. GB inspected the area and advised the landowners that the project is beyond Landcare’s capacity. He provided them with contacts who may be able to help.

During the year our Group has made donations to the Wamboin Volunteer Rural Bushfire Brigade, Canberra Nature Map and Save Kosci From Wild Feral Horses.
