We are a growing group of friends in the Northern Rivers (NSW), who have come together to help repair and care for our environment, and provide knowledge, support and practical hands on help for the people in our group.

Formed in 2018, The Grass Roots Mentoring Group brings together people throughout the greater Lismore area, Jiggi valley, Rock Valley and Nimbin surrounds, in Far North NSW. Our aim is to assist members with regeneration projects on their properties aimed at enhancing biodiversity and increasing native habitat. Of particular focus is the need to reach out to newcomers to the area who are keen to start regeneration projects but have limited knowledge of how or where to start. We cover a broad range of topics, for example: property planning, species identification, weed control, best practice herbicide use, through to tree planting, erosion control strategies and nursery visits.

We aim to meet every three months, on a Saturday morning - weather permitting, at a different member’s property, to discuss particular issues and problems, work out how best to tackle them and to assist with practical hands on help. The morning is followed up with a bring a plate lunch which is a great time to network and socialise.

Please contact us if you would like to be notified of our next get together. We are an informal group with no membership fees, and are always pleased to hear from new comers.
