Nurturing Our Connection to Place – Landcare Week 2025 Reflections

Recap on Successful Landcare Week Events in the Hastings Region

Capacity building - LEP_23_033_LLC_HLI_06

The issue

Running a Landcare Network is a lot of work as we are mission led and often resource poor. Hastings Landcare wanted to create bigger impact, build on our profile, attract new volunteers, keep people engaged, showcase a range of activities, celebrate our existing volunteers, increase the capacity of our network and encourage lasting, long term action. Furthermore, achieve this on a very minimal budget! Challenging to say the least. Drawing on staff and volunteer expertise we manage to achieve these outcomes during Landcare Week 2025!

The solution

For the second year in a row we have run a series of events over Landcare Week that achieve all the outcomes listed above. In Landcare Week 2025 we held Nature Journalling and Platypus spotting, Ngarraliyn (Deep Listening) Workshop, King Creek Landcare Tour & Try Day, Bush Breathing, Tip Tour (with Council) and Queens Lake Landcare Walking Tour. The week was a great success and many Landcare regulars attended as well as new people. The promotion via our website, facebook, mailing list, Council, Local MP, newspapers, Landcare NSW has helped build our profile and showcase our network. Our Workshops were designed to be interesting, fun and engaging to foster opportunities for people to connect with nature and have a positive impact on our bushland.
