Bitou Busters Hawks Nest and Tea Gardens first day’s work of the season

Beautiful morning last Saturday 28 March  for our early bitouing, unfortunately we were greeted by a large area of our previously weeded section that had been machined to the bare sand, presumably by an unsupervised council worker.

It was a terrible sight with all ground cover plants and mulch removed!
Letters have been written with photos and we hope that Council “Parks and Garden” staff will now receive some education about bush regeneration.
With our backs to the destruction we continued to tackle the huge Bitou on the mangrove edge with great success.
Welcome to Judy and Jacqui who worked one to one on regrowth and seedlings, mainly asparagus, polygala, bitou and prickly pear.
Thank you everyone and note that the next Bitou Bust will be
Saturday 2 May at 9.30am (a week late to avoid a clash with Anzac Day)
Meet in Yamba St near the corner of Tuloa adjacent to the bush reserve.
