2014 Landcare Project unsuccessful this time.
Expression of interest has been resubmitted again for the next round.
September 10 2014. An expression of interest for a grant from the 2014 Landcare Project for plants and shrubs for the dunes, adjacent to the car park at the Hawks Nest surf club was unsuccessful on this occasion but it will be resubmitted again in the next round that will be coming up in the next few months.
Bitou Busters (BB) will develop a small revegetation program to work on the dunes adjacent to the car park at the Hawks Nest surf club. This is to stabilise the bank and to trap wind blown litter. Stage 1 is in progress with BB clearing the area from bitou bush, asparagus and rubbish. We would plant a 70m strip with Lomandra longifolia and Westringia fruticosa in a hedge along the top of the bank. Then stabilise the sloping bank with Scaevola calendulacea, Hibbertia scandens, Correa alba and Carpobrotus glaucescens transplants.
The 70m strip would be treated for weeds by Great Lakes Council (GLC) and then mulched.
