Clean Up Australia day Gula Park, Tanilba Bay

12 attendees met at 9am at Gula Park, Tanilba Bay. Volunteers worked from 9am-11am doing rubbish pickup activities. The volunteers then went to Lemon Tree Passage for an Ocean & Coastal Care Initiatives BBQ from 11:30am. From 1pm-3.30pm then team were transported by boat to Bull Island Clean-up. Analysis of types of rubbish was conducted by Tangaroa Blue. The group collected 24 bags of rubbish (15 cubic metres)! It comprised roughly of 127 metres of mesh from oyster farming, 247 plastic drink bottles, 138 glass bottles and 393 aluminium cans. Three life-jackets and numerous items from boats were collected – mats, hatches, and 48 metres of rope. Among other things, there were 25 kilograms of styrofoam, a toilet seat and four rubber thongs.
