Our first year at JRL

August 23/08/2024

We're coming up to our AGM and it's hard to believe twelve months has passed since the group officially kicked off. Our President Narelle will talk to these in detail at the AGM in her report, but here's a quick roundup for you.

Most of this year has been about preparation and compliance. Policies, documents and guidelines all set in place to ensure we can run smoothly.

In terms of 'on the ground' activities our members have been involved in a few different events through MLI which has been a great learning experience.

We hosted a well attended 'Greenhouse' movie event in May and attended the local 'Junee Meet and Greet' hosted by Junee Business and Trades, bringing community, business and Local Government together.

In terms of our own projects we have a number of them waiting to launch once our AGM is completed. From re-invigorating some old original Junee Landcare sites and other area's like Bethungra Dam, acquiring tools and a trailer for projects, to some dedicated small scale recycling opportunities, there are a number of 'hands on' events coming up.

We're also putting together what will likely be the most extensive native plant species list ever compiled for the Junee Shire. Designed for Landholders, gardeners, enthusiasts and propagators into separate categories and locations. This will give us information and access to local provenance for future projects.

And shhhhh... don't tell anyone but we're also looking to develop our own nursery.

Good things will be happening over the next year and we're always welcoming new people to bring their own projects, expand our knowledge base and get a whole lot of great stuff done!

Struan Timms- Vice President JRL.
