This guy was about twice the size of the weevils we've been seeing eating eucalypts. I'm happy to say that this one is a soil weevil, so he works very hard improving the soil ecology all around us. 

We found him just outside a hole, so we're wondering if maybe he'd only just emerged onto the surface for the first time. He looked a bit stunned.
