Strategic Planning our way out of the smoke

Bringing Landcarers from across our region together, to contribute to a strategic planning session for the future direction, priorities and tactics of our network .

Capacity to Deliver - LP039- R010

The issue

After 18 months of drought, fire, flood and then plague, our networks were experiencing significant stalling points for our projects and connections. As a new regional network, we needed to have a clearer vision of how to serve our communities to meet their priorities.

The solution

After recognising our stalling points, our community of practice came together to think about the future of our regional organisation in three parts: what’s working, what’s not and where do we want to be?
Over 30 registrations from across our region, from all levels of Landcare expressed interest in this higher level planning activity, many who had not expressed interest in this area before. This was achieved by casting the net wide with invitations.

The impact

Out of the event we have gained a mission statement, priorities, key tactics and 2021 priorities for coordinators. This information has now been used by our coordinators to revise our priority plans for the next year.

One of the best outputs of the day was the clear desire communicated by attendees to do it again, soon. We hope to have this as a yearly event in some format, and give regional cross pollination opportunities in events going forward.
