Native Tree ID workshop
Mid Macquarie Landcare held a native tree ID workshop in Dubbo on August 13, presented by Anthony O'Halloran from local plant nursery Bilby Blooms.
Anthony O'Halloran, who has been running Bilby Blooms for over 30 years, is a wealth of knowledge on native plants, and we could have listened to him all day!
In addition to gaining an understanding of what to look for when identifying numerous local eucalypts, our crew of rugged up volunteers also learnt about plant naming, apps and keys to use, and growing native plants from seed.
Here's a few good resources that came out of the day:
- EUCLID - Eucalyptus ID website (free), or get the app (paid)
- Plantnet - Native plant ID
- i-Naturalist - you can ask for an ID on your plant
- NSW Native Plant Identification - a Facebook page where you can ask for an ID on your plant
We look forward to Anthony running another workshop for us next year.
