The issue
Landholders in the Stuart Town area wanted to combine 50,000 plus hectares in a landscape rehydration project, to look at funding and collaborative opportunities between Soils for Life and Mid Macquarie Landcare and other partner organisations.
Founder of Soils for Life, former Governor General, Sir Michael Jeffrey is also involved with seed preservation and visited Burrendong Arboretum as part of the tour.
The solution
Soils for Life is looking at the Central West to create a new model of Natural Resource Management collaboration where local landholders, Landcare Groups and local government areas work on visionary projects from go to whoa. This project has also attracted personal interest from agriculture Minister, David Littleproud.
Partnerships involved here include Dubbo Regional Council, Bathurst Regional Council, 30 Stuart Town landholders, Burrendong Arboretum and Wellington Local Aboriginal Land Council.
The impact
Soils for Life are independently writing up the case studies from the day for inclusion in literature that will be used to apply for future project funding.

Many possible partnerships in the area to be utilised to the benefit of all.
