Improving Soil Structure on Sodic Soils
The project aims to improve soil structure on sodic soils in a typical rice and winter cereal rotation.
Trial work will compare in-situ composting and organic matter incorporation against traditional management of soils post harvest.
The trial treatments include;
- 4m3 of a locally manufactured commercial compost (A1 compost)
- 10 T/ha pig manure and incorporated stubble
- 10 T/ha pig manure
- Gypsum - burn stubble/gypsum/incorporate
- Mulch stubble and incorporate
- Control - burn stubble/plough
