Getting Boys to the Bush
We were joined by Boys To The Bush at the Narrandera Wetlands, making the most of the fine weather and a brilliant local spot for learning. The group gathered early, keen to get stuck into a hands-on experience in the field.
We kicked off with a discussion about the history of the Narrandera Wetlands and how wetlands work. It was great to see everyone keen to understand the role these places play in local biodiversity. The conversation led to a survey of aquatic species living in the wetland, with everyone getting involved, rolling up their sleeves and having a go.
There was a bit of excitement when a little frog hopped onto one of the boys, providing a perfect opportunity for a quick snap. Spotting three koalas in the area also topped off the morning and served as a reminder of just how special and lively these local environments are.
By the end of the visit, everyone had picked up plenty about wetland habitats, native animals and the history behind the Narrandera Wetlands. Experiences like this make a real difference, offering young people a chance to get outside, learn on Country, and appreciate the importance of the natural world around us.
