North Head Sanctuary Foundation is a community based not-for-profit dedicated to preserving North Head, Manly in Sydney, NSW as a protected environment for its natural attributes. A sanctuary that celebrates our indigenous, immigration and military heritage and that provides a place of learning, research and contemplation.

The Foundation runs:
(1) A native plant nursery, and revegetation program - for the nationally endangered Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub, found only at North Head and a few tiny patches elsewhere in Sydney.
(2) An education centre to help visitors interpret and understand the natural and built landscape of North Head

The Foundation works in partnership with key stakeholders on North Head to protect and provide careful stewardship of existing assets as well as plan for the future. Our partners include:

  • Sydney Harbour Federation Trust
  • National Parks and Wildlife Service
  • Australian Wildlife Conservancy and
  • Quarantine Station
