9th September Berrima Scout Park Planting Completed

A team effort between Hume and Sydney scouts and a small group of Landcare volunteers enabled the completion of a dense wet area planting.

This planting was started to help slow the movement of water across the scout park to increase the area available for camping and establish a dense natural area for education. Earlier in the year we placed 75 log structures across the area and planted 100 lomandra. On 9th September we were able to plant close to another 200 plants. This included a large number of sedges and rushes through a very wet area in the hope of establishing frog habitat. Below the very wet area a selection of trees and shrubs chosen to tolerate wet, dry and frosts were planted. All of this was made possible through a Planet Arc grant.
