Highlights from the USLC AGM
The Upper Shoalhaven Landcare Council (USLC) hosted their annual gathering on Friday 22 November 2024 at the Braidwood Servicemen's Club. Ten people turned out to the meeting to pass the necessary financials, reports, and vote in the committee for 2025.
Acting Chairperson and Treasurer, Robyn Clubb, provided a good report of the years activities, as well as audited financial statements for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 financial years, the latter kindly supplied by Rhyll Tozer of Palacc Chartered Accountants. There was a little turnover and a slight reshuffle of committee positions overall. We farewelled Chair Felicity Sturgiss, who'd been on leave of absence since July, as well as ordinary member Sarah Merriman - thanking them for their wonderful service on the committee in recent years. We also welcomed the newly elected committee consisting of:
- President Mary Appleby
- Vice President & Treasurer Robyn Clubb
- Secretary Elizabeth Trigg
- Public Officer Anne McVilly
- Ordinary Member Bec Klomp
While the key office bearers were filled on the night, there remains a few casual vacancies for ordinary member positions if you or anyone you know is interested in helping support the district Landcare network and projects. Current projects include the Landcare Enabling Program 2023-27 which supports the local Landcare Coordinator position, the new Southern Tablelands Tree Start Growers Network, and trying to kick-start youth engagement activities and sensory gardens with local school groups.
This year's AGM theme - Discover and Celebrate Landcare Around the Region - also invited local groups and members to share their achievements for the year and any plans for 2025. Local Landcare Coordinator Erin Brinkley compiled a summary presentation with the key highlights for each group over the year, including updates from Bungendore, Bombay, Sheep Station Creek, Snowball, Sustainable Braidwood, Windellama and Upper Deua Catchment Landcare Groups.
We'd like to thank all who joined us for the evening, especially members of our Bombay Landcare subcomittee, as well as those who couldn't make it to the AGM, but were there in spirit. USLC look forward to continuing to support and work with our local groups in the new year and wish everyone a safe and happy holidays!
