The issue
We often reflect on those personal connections and conversations that are a critical part of Landcare's success and this project is an example of this. One conversation led to another, and several partnerships were created along the way that has led to a bigger and better project than we planned for originally.
The solution
The initial request to our local council, Mid Western Regional Council, was permission to undertake a few small plantings but it didn't stop here. The Parks & Garden team thought it was a great idea and ripped the planting beds AND extended watering points from further away to help ensure plant survival.
The volunteers of the Watershed Landcare Nursery helped with species selection and donated the plants and tree guards. The local residents did a letter box drop to invite everyone to get to know each other better at the community planting. An army of helpers from the Mudgee Lion's Club helped spread out mulch to round off the planting event.
The impact
Enthusiasm, connection and community was achieved through this project, which is still ongoing as everyone is excited by its success and what they achieved together!
