Farming and Seed Savers Conference in Mudgee
Next weekend Mudgee will once again provide a venue for collaboration between people passionate about seeds, sustainability and the future of food production, from our region and beyond.
The Sustainable Farming and Seed Savers Conference will be held at Augustine's Function Centre on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 May.
The conference, now in it's 8th year, is hosted by the Castlereagh Seed Savers who aim to collaborate with farmers, gardeners and educators to ensure the survival of traditional plants used for food, medicines and fibres and to keep this material in the public domain.
Keynote speakers at this year's conference will be Michael and Louisa Kiely, Carbon Farmers of Australia, and Peter Andrews OAM, Natural Sequence Farming.
The Conference venue is in the midst of a stunning rural landscape and provides a perfect setting for 2 days of relevant and timely presentations and the great networking, sharing and learning opportunities this occasion provides.
There will be presentations, talks and demonstrations on a range of topics including: pollination, chemicals and bees; soil balancing; herbs, weeds and health; Holistic Management; growing hazelnuts; scythes and traditional crockpots; bush tucker and native products; saving seeds, heritage and heirloom varieties; and native plant families, characteristics and propagation.
Why not join the Agricultural Tour Day on Monday 30 May as well? Explore behind-the-scenes, hear the story as you taste delicious olive oil and palate-pleasing wine, not forgetting the afternoon 'secret garden' visit.
Single day attendance to the conference on Saturday or Sunday is $60 per adult and includes lunch and refreshments. Attendance to the Monday Tour is $40 per adult (lunch at own expense). A discount rate of $100 per adult is (available) for two-day conference attendance and includes the Monday Tour free.
