Local Landcare interests are set to receive an injection of funds thanks to a successful grant application through the Federal Governments' 25th Anniversary Landcare Grants 2014-15 initiative.

Watershed Landcare's application - 25 Years Creating a Healthy Landscape and Healthy Community was awarded $19,525 in funding to support a range of established Watershed Landcare activities.

This will enable Watershed to continue to provide farmers and the community with training in the latest agricultural practices and techniques; focusing on specific topics such as grazing management, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, building soil carbon and health, water-use efficiency, plant ID and management of invasive species.

The funding will be used to provide guest speakers, venue hire, co-ordination and promotion for a range of events, seminars and workshops; including our lecture program at the Mudgee Small Farm Field Days, Green Day and our two special interest groups, the Grazing Group and the Mudgee Microscope group.

Check out the Watershed website (www.watershedlandcare.com.au) for more information on our projects, activities and our special interest groups.

The Watershed Landcare committee and members will be getting together on Saturday 7 February for a Strategic Planning session to identify our priorities for the coming year.

Do you have some ideas on projects or topics you think we should focus on? Have a suggestion for a workshop we should run?

Contact our Co-ordinator, Agness Knapik, on 0435 055 493 or info@watershedlandcare.com.au to let us know your ideas or if you would like to attend the Strategic Planning session.
