Connecting Our Waterways
The Connecting Our Waterways project aims to improve landscape function and productivity by restoring or increasing the connectivity of riparian vegetation on farms in the Watershed Landcare district. Watershed Landcare is seeking expressions of interest (EOI) for funding from landholders in our region to conduct on-ground works to enhance riparian vegetation or increase the connectivity of riparian corridors on the land they manage.
The Connecting Our Waterways project aims to improve landscape function and productivity by restoring or increasing the connectivity of riparian vegetation on farms in the Watershed Landcare district.
Watershed Landcare is seeking expressions of interest (EOI) for funding from landholders in our region to conduct on-ground works to enhance riparian vegetation or increase the connectivity of riparian corridors on the land they manage.
Total funding of $25,000 is available to contribute to any (or a combination of) the below eligible activities. Individual landholders will be able to apply for up to $5,000 in funding and will be required to provide a 25% in-kind contribution (labour or materials) to the project.
Eligible activities:
- Materials or labour for fencing to exclude livestock from riparian corridors
- Troughs, solar pumps, etc. to provide alternate stock water
- Tube stock, tree guards, etc.
- Labour for planting
- Willow removal
- Other activities designed to improve the health of riparian areas on farms
Selection Criteria
EOIs will be assessed by a selection panel against the following criteria:
- Area of project site

Connectivity to remnant riparian vegetation

Connectivity to other parts of the landscape

Innovation and creativity in design
-
Value of site from a biodiversity or landscape function perspective

Value for money
Key Dates
31 August 2015 – EOI to be submitted to Watershed Landcare Inc
11 September 2015 – Successful applicants decided on by selection panel
25 September 2015 – Riparian Vegetation workshop (attendance compulsory for successful applicants)
30 September 2015 - Signed contract/funding agreement returned to WLI
October 2015 - Funding distributed
31 May 2016 - On-ground works to be completed
31 May 2016 - Final report and photos to Watershed Landcare
June 2016 - Field day/Farm Walk at project site(s)
Eligibility for funding

Current financial member of Watershed Landcare.

You must own the land, or have written permission from the owner of the land, on which the project is to be conducted.

Compulsory attendance at Riverine Systems and Riparian Vegetation workshop to be held on Friday 25 September 2015.

Provide 25% in-kind contribution to the project. This can include materials or labour.

Complete work by 31 May 2016.

Provide final report and photographs to Watershed Landcare by 31 May 2016.
How to apply
Submit a completed Connecting Our Waterways project Expression of Interest (EOI) form (click here to download the form) together with 4 photos of the proposed project site to Watershed Landcare by 31 August 2015.
If your application is successful you will be notified by 18 September 2015 and required to sign a Project Management Agreement before funding is distributed and work can commence.
