Central Tablelands Landcare Non-competitive Funding 2016-17
COMPLETED - The Central Tablelands Landcare network received funding from the Central Tablelands LLS in 2016 - 2017 through the Landcare Non-Competitive stream to undertake on-ground and capacity building outcomes which aim to improve community capacity and the natural resource base in our district.
Here is our activity outline for achieving the goals of the project.
Central Tablelands Landcare has invited Dr Bernard Doube of Dung Beetle Solutions Australia to host two workshops in our area in November 2016. The aim of these workshops will be to find out all about dung beetles, how to identify them, which species occur, or could occur in our area, and how to successfully manage a freshly introduced population. Those interested in releasing dung beetles will be provided a starter colony to improve fertility, aeration, water holding capacity and biological activity on their farms.
We have also invited Cam Wilson on a bus tour around Orange to discuss erosion and water management in our landscape. We will visit three sites on the day, a rehabilitated dam, a chain of ponds area that has been rehydrated through natural sequence farming techniques, and an eroded gully that requires some practical advice. This activity will be a capacity building exercise as well as an opportunity to showcase some environmental success stories in our region.
