Join us at the Oberon Library & Community Centre for a captivating book launch that will unveil the mysteries and beauty of local butterfly species through Christine Bailey's latest work, "The Purple Copper's Secret".

📅 Date: Tuesday, December 5

🕚 Time: 11:45 AM - 1:00 PM

📍 Location: Oberon Library & Community Centre

Christine Bailey, a local author, has intricately woven her knowledge and consultations with experts such as Senior Local Land Services Officer Allan Wray, and biologist/ecologist Ray Mjadwesch, into her narrative. Their significant work in monitoring, recording, and protecting the Purple Copper Butterfly, along with habitat restoration measures, has been a great inspiration for her book.

Discover why biodiversity is crucial to our existence and how volunteers can contribute to the survival and thriving of these delicate creatures.

The event will feature:

  • Two exclusive photographic exhibitions: The lifecycle of the Purple Copper Butterfly and a collection of common species in the region.

  • A special presentation by Steven Fleischmann of Lithgow Oberon Landcare on the conservation of the Bursaria spinosa bush, the sole food source for the Purple Copper Butterfly.

  • Opportunity to purchase your own copy of "The Purple Copper's Secret".

For bookings, please contact Kathy Sajowitz at 0428 543 693.

Light refreshments will be provided. Don't miss out on this enlightening experience that brings together community, conservation, and creativity.
