The issue

Coffs Harbour Regional Landcare (CHRL) has over 300 active volunteers who work extremely hard to improve our local natural environment. We wanted to do something special for our volunteers to show our appreciation of their commitment as well as motivate them to keep up their volunteering, We also had a big milestone to celebrate, our 25th Anniversary as an incorporated organisation, so we wanted to be able to incorporate both into one celebration.

The solution

CHRL held a Volunteer and 25th Anniversary Celebration on 25th May 2024. This also fell within National Volunteer Week so we were able to cover off three things with one event! The event consisted of an afternoon of interesting and inspirational guest speakers which included a number of our volunteers talking about their Landcaring experiences and what motivates them to keep volunteering. The cutting of a celebration cake by our Lifetime members at afternoon tea recognised our 25th Anniversary. The event ended in a dinner where our volunteers could sit and enjoy a delicious meal and the company of their fellow volunteers.

The impact

We had 80 volunteers and guests attend the afternoon session of our Celebration event and 50 attended our dinner. The event ran very smoothly and was a huge success. The feedback that we received was extremely positive with attendees saying how much they enjoyed all aspects of the event from the guest speakers to the dinner. The event helped to strengthen CHRL’s relationship with our volunteers.
