Participants will be guided through the basics of bush regeneration on Coastal dune sites and Themeda headland. There will also be demonstration and discussion on the appropriate and effective use of dabber bottles and wick wipers in weed control. This workshop is suitable for new volunteers.
In this workshop participants will be introduced to some of the common plants that occur along the Coffs Coast. We will look at major species and their identifying features, roles, seed collection and propagation. Notes will be provided. We will look at dunal, littoral rainforest and headland coastal plant communities. Some walking will be involved. Bookings essential.
This workshop will cover botany and identification of common rainforest species and instruction on keying out species using “Trees and Shrubs in rainforests of NSW & Southern QLD”. Bookings essential.
Trees on farms provide many benefits for livestock and wildlife and improve the general aesthetics. This workshop will examine the rules to follow to ensure longevity of paddock trees, the establishment of shelter belts and the benefits these have for the economic and environmental sustainability of the farm. Participants in this workshop will learn about and experience a stand of remnant vegetation not far from Coffs Harbour CBD. Landcarers will benefit from gaining an understanding of the ecology of a resilient native plant community.
This workshop will visit a recently installed water filtration and recycling system in a working greenhouse and demonstrate the necessary components as well as provide the details of costs and benefits.
