The issue

Opportunities for environmental education are limited in western New South Wales. A Landcare primary school's eco day addressed this in Lake Cargelligo.

The solution

Students from Lake Cargelligo Central School and St Francis Xavier's School in Lake Cargelligo from Years 3 - 6 studied the aquatic fauna of the Lake and the riparian zone with guest presenters from the Lake Cowal Conservation Centre.

The impact

Students gained experience identifying invertebrates and fish, using microscopes and binoculars and investigating the role of the riparian zone.
