Weeds Workshop Sept 2024
Mid Macquarie Landcare hosted a Weeds Workshop focusing on the management of Tiger Pear, St Johns Wort, Blue Heliotrope and newly emerging weeds of concern.
The event was run in partnership with Dubbo Regional Council, Central West Local Land Services and the Castlereagh Macquarie County Council on the 12 September 2024.
Participants at the workshop found out the latest advice on effective chemical treatments, biological controls and management techniques and also had the opportunity to pick up some Tiger Pear biocontrol to spread across their properties.

- St Johns Wort management trial results by Tim Bartimote (Central West LLS)
- Blue Heliotrope and Green Cestrum management and emerging weeds to watch out for by Des MacKey (Dubbo Regional Council) and
- Biocontrol of Tiger Pear and St Johns Wort by Andy Fletcher (Castlereagh Macquarie County Council).

- Green Cestrum
- Coolatai Grass - there's been an incursion of this along the Mitchell Highway - report to DRC so they can map extent.
- Fireweed- please report any plants to DRC
- Riverina Pear - new listing for our region (Note: the same bug as Tiger Pear will attack this)
- Parthenium weed - watch out for this
