Barham Lakes Visioning
Barham Lakes Visioning
A healthy, sustainable, inclusive community space, connecting people and places for generations.
Community Participation
The issue
Visioning meetings are gatherings that provide equal opportunities for all stakeholders to influence their organisation's direction. These meetings use face-to-face brainstorming facilitated by a leader to assess project goals and associated risks. In the case of the Lakes project, as it expanded, it became crucial to capture the community's long-term objectives in its early development phase. Various stakeholder representatives contributed their ideas, feedback, and goals, which were then condensed into a community vision statement. This document will serve as a guiding framework for all future developments in the Lakes precinct.
The solution
Community representatives came together on Thursday 11th May to collaborate on a community vision document and statement. External facilitation was provided by Dan Hutton. Funding was secured from Murray LLS who support community project of cluBarham Lakes to develop social licence and rehabilitation of this community resource.
The impact
Engaging community from the beginning of the project has developed social licence and will allow the project to evolve overtime in line with community.
A post visioning survey to the committee determined the vision statement: A healthy, sustainable, inclusive community space, connecting people and place for generations.
The visioning document and statement is available for public access on our website. This visioning work will underpin all future project development decisions.
Having a united community is important for risk mitigation when applying for funding from government/agency bodies.
