Defibrillator Machines

WMLIG has successfully secured two defibrillators through Murray Irrigation Limited’s Community Grants program. These life-saving devices have been placed at our office location to ensure 24/7 public access to these critical emergency tools.

Community Participation

The issue

This initiative was undertaken in response to a pressing need we observed in our community. Prior to this installation, there were limited options for the general public to access defibrillators 24 hours a day. Most defibrillators were only available during the office hours, or required individuals to obtain a key for access. Recognising this gap in emergency response resources, WMLIG applied for the Community Grants program to address this issue and provide a valuable, potentially life-saving resource to our community.

The solution

One of the defibrillators is a portable unit specifically intended for use at field days, events and community gatherings. The second defibrillator is a permanent fixture permanently mounted on the exterior wall of our office building, This permanent defibrillator is available for round the clock public use and is easily accessible.

The impact

The portable defibrillator has been taken to offsite events in case of emergency and is available for other community groups to use. We are grateful to Murray Irrigation Limited for their support through the Community Grants Program which has made this possible.

We have promoted the purpose of this equipment through our contacts and will continue to make people aware of it. Our intention is also to have street signage alerting community to the defibrillator (AED) location on the outside of the office building. This site is monitored by security cameras.
